Bachelor of Nursing Science
University of Sunshine Coast, Adelaide
Program Overview
The Bachelor of Nursing Science is an undergraduate degree designed to prepare students for a professional career in nursing. The curriculum combines theoretical learning with practical clinical training, helping students develop clinical judgement, communication skills, cultural safety, teamwork, and a person-centred approach to healthcare.
Students study anatomy and physiology, professional health communication, mental health, pathophysiology, pharmacology, health law and ethics, primary healthcare, clinical assessment, and nursing leadership. Practical learning begins early in the program through clinical simulation, virtual reality environments, electronic medical records, and supervised professional experience placements across healthcare settings.
The program has a standard pathway for students entering university after secondary school and a graduate-entry pathway for eligible applicants who already hold a bachelor's degree. Students must successfully complete the required theoretical and clinical components, including mandatory placements, to progress through the program.
