After +2 or A levels
Depending on your grades, subject and university, you may get direct entry to Year 1 of a bachelor's degree, or you may be asked to complete an International Foundation Year first.
The UK Education System
The UK uses two qualification frameworks. England, Wales and Northern Ireland run from Entry Level to Level 8, and Scotland uses the 12-level SCQF. A bachelor's takes 3 years — usually 4 in Scotland — a taught master's is often 1 year, and a PhD typically takes 3–4 years.
How qualifications work
England, Wales and Northern Ireland describe qualifications from Entry Level to Level 8. University degrees sit at Levels 4–8. Scotland uses the separate Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework, which has 12 levels. Most Nepali students enter after NEB Class 12 through a foundation year or direct first-year entry, or after a bachelor's for a master's.

Many UK universities accept Nepali bachelor's degrees for master's entry. Some accept three-year degrees, while others ask for a four-year degree or a Pre-Master's. Check that university's Nepal-specific entry requirements.
For degree-level study, UK visa rules require English at CEFR B2 (B1 for courses below degree level). Most Nepali students meet this with IELTS or PTE Academic. Some foundation programmes need a UKVI-approved test (SELT).
The main intake is September. Many universities also offer January, and a few have a May start.
A full-time taught master's is often one year — a real saving in tuition and living costs compared with many other countries. Course length varies, so confirm it on the course page.
After graduating, eligible students can apply for the Graduate visa to stay and work. How long it lasts depends on the date of that application, and on whether the qualification is a doctorate. Read the Graduate visa rules.
This matters for postgraduate admission. A university may ask for "a UK 2:1 or equivalent", and each university converts Nepali percentages or GPA to that standard in its own way.

Look beyond the qualification title. Course modules, professional accreditation, placement opportunities, research facilities, assessment methods and progression requirements can differ a lot between universities, even when the degree names look the same.
Genix tip: Don't compare qualifications by name alone. A bachelor's, diploma or master's from Nepal may be assessed differently by each UK university. Check the university's country-specific entry requirements for Nepal before assuming direct entry.
